You’re sitting at a red light, or behind a car that’s about to turn left or right, and all of a sudden your hear a loud, blaring horn. You startle, your heart thumping wildly as you try and figure out what you did wrong.
But you didn’t do anything wrong. The car behind you just decided to be a jerk and vent its impatience at you, despite the fact that you have no control over the speed of cars in front of you. If they’re really mean, they’ll honk again, sending your already pounding heart racing.
That’s when you start to get mad. There isn’t much you can do, seeing as you have to keep going, and the car is behind you. But that doesn’t abate your anger. You’re furious. Just who does this car think he is?
We’re all in a hurry, buddy. You’re not any more special than the rest of us, meaning you’ve got to wait in line like the rest of us, regardless of how slow that line may be. You, my rude friend, are an irritating addition on the road, and frankly, we could do without you and your attitude.
So next time, how about developing some common courtesy and patience, and let people do what they do on the road in order to get where they need to be.
I think we can all agree it’s in everyone’s best interests if that occurred. Let’s face it—we’ve all been there.
